“Argon Constructors was engaged by Health New Zealand (Auckland City Hospital) to assist with the construction and delivery of two new CT machines, four new linear accelerators and a new Brachytherapy Bunker.
This engagement was based upon their extensive experience within the niche field of radiology treatment facilities and furthermore their proven ability to work successfully within highly sensitive live clinical environments.
With a large majority of the contract works now complete I am pleased to confirm the engagement of Argon Constructors was justified.
In addition to the ongoing exhibition of professionalism and technical expertise, Argon were friendly, personable and transparent throughout. Nothing they have been presented with was too difficult and there was a committed focus to the client’s needs and end requirements at all times.
The project benefited greatly from their upfront early contractor involvement, mitigating key project risks such as inground works, particularly piling and foundation systems.
A key component of working within these environments is the integration of the external clinical equipment suppliers. By working closely with our external supplier Varian, Argon was able to assist with this integration, specifically around ensuring the respective bunkers were constructed in accordance with their strict requirements.”

“I have been highly impressed with Argon. The key areas in my opinion they excel in are as follows:
- Their ability to identify design issues and provide solutions. They do this by having dedicated design coordinators/managers in both the Architecture and Services fields within their team. Having this backstop has proved invaluable in flagging the issues with suggested solutions, resulting in quicker resolution and less delays. On this project, this has mitigated significant delay and cost.
- Transparency in commercial management… Meaning a much easier and seamless process with claim certification and approval by the ETC and not a single principal adjustment has been requested.
- They have worked hard to mitigate delays, and accelerated works effectively to ensure critical deadlines and mitigate further delays.
This project was delayed by a month due to geotech challenges and had further notified potential delays; however, the client had a non-negotiable commencement date for the installation of the LINAC and CT equipment. Working closely with the consultant team, client, and myself, they designed and priced an acceleration proposal to make up that time over a six-month period.
They embraced the challenge and delivered the space Practically Complete on time for the machine installs, maintaining the client’s critical path for the project. They also received accolades from Varian, the supplier, who stated it was one of the best completed spaces they have ever received in terms of standard of work, functioning of all required systems and negligible defects.”
