Whangārei District Council is upgrading and replacing the roof at Semenoff Stadium, Northland’s biggest stadium. The multipurpose outdoor venue originally opened in 1965. In 2010, Argon carried out redevelopment work on the stadium, including construction of a grandstand, corporate boxes and conference facilities in time to host 2011 Rugby World Cup matches.
This new project involves demolition and removal of the existing tension membrane roof, and construction of a new mono-pitch design over the main grandstand. The new roof will incorporate enhanced audio/visual technology, improve internal acoustics, and provide better weather protection. The project also includes HVAC upgrades and modifications to the electrical and fire systems.
